Porky’s Boudin and Cracklin in Alexandria, LA = A+ Boudin
Ambiance: I have had thoughts of Porky’s since I was 16 and I always wanted to visit. Who knew that I’d find Boudin and Cracklin instead of intrigue? This is a very cool place! A small walk-up or drive-up boudin and cracklin stand in Alexandria. They are super busy with a line of cars or walk-ups pretty much all day long. And why not? This is some delicious food served up by a vivacious young lady!

Casing: A substantial casing that isn’t always tightly packed.
Meat/Rice Ratio: More meat than rice.
Texture: MEATY!!!! But not just meaty. There is plenty of rice and lots of fresh green onion and onion throughout this full textured link.
Spice: Regular Boudin = Medium; Spicy Smoked Boudin = Medium/Hot
Overall Flavor: This is a fantastic link of boudin. It kind of caught us by surprise, but it is packed full of all the flavors you hope for in a link of boudin. The meat shows up in GIANT chunks as well as more mashed up parts. In fact we’ve never seen so many huge chunks of delicious pork in a link. The smoked variety includes smoked pork. The link isn’t smoked, it is the meat that goes into it that is smoked. It is also a bit spicier than the regular link, but both are down right delicious. And, they’re a bargain at only $1.89 per link.
Comments: Porky’s has been in business for about four years now and we’ve been hearing about it from a couple of different people. We’re glad we made the trip to Alexandria for this link and we promise you won’t be disappointed. Oh, and don’t forget to check out the boudin ball. It only costs $1.19 and it is huge and sumptuous.
